Aryan Comes in Sub-Continent
Aryans are believed to be warrior nomads.
Who come from eastern Europe and central Asia.
Crossing Iranian Plateau they entered
sub-continent. They were tall , fair- haired with sharp features,
These warlike pastoral Aryans come to the
Indus valley in search of meadows for their herds. The people of Indus Valley
were peaceful , they were not trained for war, therefore , they could not
protect themselves. Many towns were destroyed by Aryans, local people fled
away. Aryans had no knowledge of reading
or writing. A large scale massacre had
taken place at Harrapa and Moenjo Daro by invading armies of nomads, skeletal
remains were found in grouping with
orderly burials.
Aryans considered that that were superior
to local people whom they had defeated. Infact, Aryans learnt many things from
local people like farming, reading
writing and many other skills. Aryans were rural, while the local people
were civilized and urban.
Aryan worshipped personified natural powers.
The famous Vedas , the oldest Indian religion contained , sacrificial hymns to
gods of the sky, sun, morning, storm,
rivers and others.
At the start Aryans settled in Punjab but later on they shifted to
Ganges Valley. By the time their religion began to change. They considered
themselves superior. They divided their society into four classes or main castes, Brahmans (Priests and teachers), Kshatriyas (Warriors and leaders) , Vaishyas
( land owner, trader, artisans )and shudras (slaves). The caste system was not
rigid in early times, Brahmans felt they might lose their hold on society, so
they fixed caste system, one could not change his caste.
Although the caste injustices were
abolished during British rule, but they could not be eradicated from the grassroot
level.( Source: History)
